Achieving the L-Sit: A note on wrists and 'handles'

Having posted the intro video to the L-Sit series, some of my lovely clients asked about the handles that I use in the videos. This is a big oversight on my part so sorry for not mentioning it earlier as the handles are an important piece of kit…

The L-Sit - and all the progressions (and the front scale warm-up) place a lot of stress on the wrists. As someone who’s had keyhole surgery on my wrist due to a gym incident, I am very cautious about asking clients to perform exercises that could potentially exacerbate existing injuries (I’m going to do a separate blog post about wrist development as it is an contentious area)…

So… if you’re serious about wanting to achieve an L-Sit then I would recommend purchasing a good set of push-up handles. Push-up handles are fantastic for loads of different bodyweight exercises and even if you have wrists of steel, they can add an extra dimension to your training.

I’ve purchased various types, but have always preferred the “rectangular” type (rather than handles with a circular base). For example [NOT AN AD] - these handles from Amazon.
