Achieving the L-Sit: Progression 3 (one leg FULL extension)
By the time you’ve got to this stage you are very close to achieving an L-Sit so give yourself a massive pat on the back and be rightly proud of what you’ve achieved.
The good news is that the progression from doing a half leg extension to extending one leg to full extension isn’t a huge leap in strength.
Having mastered the half leg extension you're now going to work on extending one leg at a time into a full extension. This will help build strength and stability to move onto the next step. Having taught clients the L-Sit, I've found the below tips really help at this stage:
(1) As soon you've got into a tuck position move one leg straight into a full extension; the longer you spend holding the tuck position, the more fatigued you'll be before moving into extension and won't be able to hold it as long
(2) Lock out the leg that you're extending, focusing on muscle in that leg (e.g. tensing the thigh muscles). The more 'locked out' the leg is, the easier it will be to maintain the hold whilst in extension.
