1-2-1 Personal Training studio.
Everything has a purpose
At the Spark Move Grow studio (in Finchampstead, Wokingham) every piece of equipment serves a purpose. The space isn’t big but it has all the equipment that is essential to the type of training that Spark Move Grow specialises in - resistance and bodyweight training. There are no other pieces of cardio equipment such as step machines or treadmills; instead there are battle ropes and the cardio bike. Every piece of equipment in the studio - from humble push-up handles (essential to many forms of bodyweight training) to the wall rig, bars and free weights - is essential to clients’ training.
Only the best equipment
Having spent many years in gyms alongside using equipment in the various flats and houses that I lived in since my 20’s, and travelled to clients’ houses when starting my PT business, I built up a very clear picture of the equipment that I wanted to install in the studio. As a result, I have installed only the best, high quality equipment from manufacturers that I trust and have used for a long time.
Key equipment includes:
High quality wall-mounted utility rig from amazing equipment manufacturer BLK BOX - to enable clients to learn gymnastic exercises with the gymnastic rings and pull-up bars for core, back & shoulder development; J-hooks for olympic bar free weight work (squats, rows etc) and bodyweight exercises (inverted rows, chest dips)
Wall-mounted TRX - to enable clients to the use suspension training as part of their workouts (amazing for core training)
Squat and benchpress equipment - an adjustable squat rack/benchpress from Hardcastle Bodybuilding to enable clients to train legs, chest and shoulders safely
Double-end boxing ball - for clients to practice their boxing techniques and perform high intensity boxing drills
Resistance bands - bands from premium US manufacturer Bodylastics (I’ve used Bodylastics for over 10yrs)
Adjustable dumbbells, olympic and standard bars, weight plates & medicine balls - from BLK BOX, Bowflex & Mirafit
Conditioning equipment - battleropes and gym bike for conditioning and endurance work.
I have also fitted the studio with amazing 20mm heavy duty flooring from Sprung to provide a safe and comfortable environment for clients.
How the studio is used:
Spark Move Grow clients vary from clients in their 20s through to clients in their 70s. Every client’s goal and training programme is different, however, resistance and bodyweight training is at the core. As a rough guide, clients’ goals fall into one of the below categories:
Muscle development - developing lean muscle and definition (muscle hypertrophy)
Conditioning (toning up)/weight management - reducing bodyfat % and increasing lean muscle mass using a combination of weight training and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
Strength training - goals vary, from senior clients looking to increase mobility and muscle strength around key joints or to clients looking to develop upper body strength by achieving gymnastic moves.
